Membership Commitment

I have personally accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour.

  • By making this commitment, I am deciding to make Harvest City Church my spiritual home.

  • I have been water baptized, or I’m intending to be water baptized soon.

  • I understand that it is my personal responsibility to keep growing in my relationship with Christ.

As far as I am able, I will try and outwork the Church's vision in my own life.

  • By FINDING (Sunday attendance)

  • By FOLLOWING (seeking to join a Group)

  • By SERVING (Volunteering on a team)

I accept that if I depart from the faith, cease to live a life consistent with Christ’s teaching, or fail to attend church without a valid reason for more than 6 months, my membership shall cease.

I commit myself to uphold the four-part commitment to God and to my Church family by the following:

1.  I will protect the unity of the Church.

  • By being motivated by love towards fellow believers.

  • By refusing to gossip and by actively seeking ways of resolving all negatives, positively.

  • By following the leadership principles of Harvest City Church.

Romans 12:16 (NIV)
“Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.”

Romans 13:8 (NIV)
“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.”

Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)
“Do not let unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs.”

Hebrews 13:17 (NIV)
“Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.”

2.   I will share in the responsibility towards the Church family.

  • By praying for the church.

  • By actively playing my part in the mission and vision of the church.

  • By being hospitable and loving to all those who visit and attend our church.

1 Thessalonians 1:2(NIV)
“We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers.”

Luke 14:23 (NIV)
“Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.”

Romans 15:7 (NIV)
“Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.”

3.   I will seek to serve the vision of the Church.

  • By offering my gifts and talents.

  • By being equipped to serve through training and volunteering.

  • By developing a servant's heart.

1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Ephesians 4:11-13 (NIV)
“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

4.   I will support the Church

  • By living a godly life consistent with Biblical principles.

  • By attending weekly.

  • By giving financially (tithes and offerings).

  • By supporting Church activities.

Hebrews 10:25 (NIV)
“Do not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Philippians 1:27 (NIV)
“Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.”

2 Corinthians 8:7 (NIV)
“But since you excel in everything — in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you — see that you also excel in this grace of giving.”

1 Corinthians 16:2 (NIV)
“On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.”
